The Family of Michael YEASLEY
and Magdalena ____?
(8th. Generation)

190 Michael YEASLEY, b. 12 May 1730, (maybe in Northhampton Co., PA?), d. 1808, m. 1st. (191) Magdalena _______,  (read note below) probably in Northampton Co., PA. She may have died prior to there moving to Jefferson, but there is no proof that this is the case. A note recently found (2004) on the Internet, states that he was b. in Northampton, Co., PA, s/o Nicholus and _______ YEASLEY. I have not yet comfirmed that. Some authors have him being born in Germany. He evidently had two children when he joined Capt. Weiser's Co. of the German Battalion, on 9 Aug 1776, serving until 7 Mar 1778. According to the history of Berks Co., was a Trenton on 26 Dec 1776, Princeton 3 Jan 1777 and Mary 1777, and in Sullivan's Division against the Indians, and in the spring of 1789 on the frontier of  Northumberland Co., which ended in 1 Jan 1781. At any rate he was in Berks Co., PA, where they had 2 children. He later migrated to Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co., VA, where he owned several properties. In the 1787 personal property tax list of Berkeley Co., List B, Thomas Hart, Commissioner, Michael YEASLEY was taxed for 6 black(s) under 16, and 17 horse, mares, colts and mules. His immediate neighbors visited before and after Michael on 16 Jun            were: Jacob Jacob Odebalt, Jhn rynat, Jese Simmons, Joseph Sweregin, John Vanosdoll, (Michael), Jesse Barns, John Barns, Joseph Barns Sr., William Bell and Mathias Cosker. In the Jefferson Co., VA, Personal Property tax list, he was taxed in 1802 and 1803 for 1 white male over 16 and 3 horses; in 1805 1 white male over 16; and in 1806 1 white male over 16 and 1 horse. He was responsible for securing four French bells for the Reformed Church in Shepherdstown. His will was proved 13 Sep 1808 in Jefferson Co., VA. He m. 2nd. Catherine Welsh Norfsenger ENTLER, widow of Philip ENTLER Jr. There were no children by this marriage. He is buried in the Reformed Graveyard, Shepherdsotwn, Jefferson Co., WV. NOTE: In the bio of a great-grandson, Jacob Luther ROPP of Fairfield Co., OH, it is stated that Michael YEASLEY'S wife was 'Mott Ilana ____?. There are several misconceptions in this document, which makes the compiler wonder where they came up with the name, and there is no explanation whether Ilana is a given name or a surname. They also state that Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co., WV, once Mechlenburg (true) was laid out by Michael YEASLEY (untrue). The town was laid out in the 1730s, and Michael YEASLEY was in Berks Co., PA until at least 1781, and may have been in Hellam Twp., York Co., PA in 1779 when Michael YESSLEY was taxed for 4 horses and 5 cattle. Again the tax was not listed indicating that he may have already removed from York Co.. (FH29, LE71, OHFFB5 p230, PABEB1 p102, 127, PAYOB35 p43, WVB1, WVBEB23, WVJEB5, p117, 22 Bk1 p427)
