On 2 Jun 1778, Adam witnessed the marriage of Jacob Schmidele and Elisabeth Keeinin. Adam settled in Hedgesville, Berkeley Co., and also purchased land in the Tabler Station area, near Inwood, Berkeley Co. In 1819 he had 1 male under 10,  2 males 10-16, a male overr 45, 1 female under 10, 1 female 10-16, 3 females 16-26, 1 female over 45, and one slave. SWISHER (War of 1812 Veteran, d. age 92, nr. Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., KS). Henry, a farmer,  and Elizabeth remained in VA until 1857. They traveled by rail to Wheeling, Ohio Co., VA, then by boat to Cambridge, Saline Co., settling on section 20, twp. 51, range 20. Henry was a farmer, carpenter, and builder. He helped build the courthouse at Charles Town, Jefferson Co,. VA, where John Brown was tried. They were members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, having joined at Hedgesville, Berkeley Co., VA. Three of his sons were in the Confederate Army. After the death of Henry, Elizabeth, in 1880, was living with her son Mathias. They are buried in Pullman-Swisher Cemetery, Saline Co., MO. All the children were b. in Berkeley Co., VA. Nov 1840, VA, prob. the d/o Harvey and Catherine HEDGES, natives of VA, from Saline Co., MO. Adam T. learned the carpenter trade at age 19 in VA, came to Salline Co., with his parents in 1857. During the Civil War, he joined Marmaduke's Company, the first company organized in the county. He was captured at Blackwater, 19 Dec 1861. Hew was taken to St. Louis, then to Alton, IL, where he swore allegiance to the United States in 1862, and was sent home. He later joined Shelby's Command and remained in service until the end of the war. He move to Marshall, Saline Co., in 1870. In 1910, he was the Dead Recorder in the county office.
