240-Melchoir TABLER, b. 15 Jan 1725, Germany, s/o John Lenhardt and Anna Maria (____?) TABLER (480/481), d. 9 Aug 1804. age 79y 6m 23d, Frederick Co., MD, from a stroke and paralysis, m. 1st. Jan 1747, prob. Lancaster Co., PA, (241) Catherine Elizabeth DORN, b. 1727, Conestoga, Lancaster Co., PA, d/o John and Charlotte DORN (482/483), d. 4 Oct 1778, age 51y, Frederick Co., MD, from a burst blood vessel. In Strouckburg they were members of Christ Lutheran  Church, organized May 1753. He was one of the founders of Christ Evangelica Church (Lutheran) in Tulpechocken in 1743. On 12 May 1745 Melchoir sponsored John Melchoir s/o Joh. Mueller. He received Warrant #1, 18 apr 1752, for 25 acres of land in Tulenhocken. On 6 Sep 1745 he and Catherina Barbara Dollman sponsored  Catarina Barbara d/o William Gally, and on 15 Jan 1755 he witnessed the baptism of Catharina Fuchs d/o Adam and Catharina Fuchs at Host Church. On 20 Mar 1757,Melchoir and Catharina sponsored Catharina Hardtman. Melchoir was a Holy Communicant, at North kill on 2 and 22 Mar 1761. They joined the Frederick Church in 1761, shortly after they moved to MD. Melchoir TABLER, m. 2nd., 8 Apr 1779, Philopena Spiess BURGER, who d. 3 Jan 1827, in Frederick Co., MD. Witness to their marriages included Christian Ostertag (Easterday) and his wife Juliana, Michael Laufer and wife Elizabeth, Leonhard Huber (Hoover) and wife Eva Margaret, Conrad Schau and daughter Barbara. In 1790 Melchoir had in his household 2 males over 16, 2 females, and 6 slaves. All of the children were born to Catherine, and there were no children from the second marriage. Some researcher have wrongly stated that Philopena was the mother of Melchoir's children. One only has to look at the birth dates of the children to see that they were all b. prior to Melchoir's marriage to his second wife. He purchased land on the Opequon in Berkeley Co., VA from William Morgan Oct 1771. He never lived there, and deeded the property to his son George on 17 Nov 1778.  On 14 Sep 1779, Melchoir, and daughters, Elisabeth and Barbara were witnesses at the marriage of Matthais Oberfeld and Anna Maria Hartman on 14 Sep 1779. Melchor part of  Coroners's Inquest for an unidentified body and bones found on the mountain, along with sons Wilhelm, and Peter. He was buried on the 10th. Aug 1804.  240.4-John Jacob TABLER, b. 29 Feb 1752, d. 1827, m. ____?.  John Jacob TABLER was baptized in 1752. In sister Barbara's estate, his share to his three sons. In 1790 he was living in Frederick Co., MD with 3 males under 16, 1 male over 16 (prob. John), and 1 female. He also owned lots in Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., VA. 240.4c Benjamin M. TABLER b. 1825, KY, m. 1848, Mariah HARRISON b. c1827, IN. Benjamin came to KS in 1877 locating in West Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS, where he farmed until 1882, then operated a grocery business. He fought in the Mexican War in the 1st. Reg. Mounted Riflemen, Co. G., under Capt. J. S. Simmson, and was wounded at Belen Gates on 19 Sep 1847, then discharged in 1847. In the Civil War he enlisted in 181 in the 35th. Reb., IL. Vol,, Co. A, was commissioned a Captain, and was discharged in 1864. In 1880 Benjamin was farming in Union Twp., Sedgwick Co. (KSSE2, KSSEB8)
