Frederick Co., MD, d. 1838, Athens Co., OH, s/o John George and Catherine (CRONE) TABLER (120/121), and slave, Hannah ___?, migrated from Berkeley c., VA to Ohio, Co., VA, then settled in Athens Co., OH c1833-1835. By Hannah he had 6 children. In the 1810 census he had 3 slaves in his household; in 1820 and 1830, 7 free people of color. In 1822 he petitioned the court to be release from payment of taxes on a Negro woman. On 1 Jan 1830, George Michael emancipated his children b. 1810-1816. The Search for HANNAH w/o George Michael TABLER:

John George TABLER'S will, 25 Jun 1827, Berkeley Co., A, states in part, "further devise to the said Archibald RUTHERFORD and "Polly" (Mary Ann Catherine) TABLER, on Negro girl and increase of her body named HANNAH, about 14 years of age, having been in their possession about 2 years. Archibald and Polly were in Ohio Co., VA. The HANNAH in John George TABLER'S will given to Archibald RUTHERFORD was about 14 in 1827; b. c1813, indicates she is too young to be George Michael's wife.(WVBE18)

Another HANNAH is mentioned in the will of Melchoir TABLER, 28 Mar 1799, revised 21 Oct 1802, states " I also devise to my said beloved wife (Philipinna) to be at her own disposal my negro girl HANNAH and increase. The will was in Berkeley Co. The HANNAH in Melchoir TABLER'S will may well be HANNAH, wife of George Michael TABLER. (WVBE18)

120.2a John TABLER, b. 4 Oct 1810, VA, m. 1836, Green Co., PA, Elizabeth "Betsey" FRANCHIER, b. c1814, VA. They lived in Rome Twp., Athen Co., OH. John farming in Rome Twp., Athen Co., OH in 1850 through 1880. John filed for a divorce, accusing Elizabeth of gross neglect, habitual drunkeness, and adultery, on 20 Dec 1858. The decree was granted in Mar 1860, however there was an 'Elizabeth' in the household in 1870-1880. He may have m. a 2nd. time. (LE44, OHTAB6, OHAT4, 6, 7) Children:

120.2b Jesse TABLER, b. 13 Oct 1811, VA, m. 6 Jan 1836, Athens Co., OH, Hannah CHURCH, b. c1812, VA. This family lived in Athens Co., OH, where Jesse farmed. In 1850 thourgh 1870 he was farming in Rome Twp., Athen Co. In 1900, he is head of the household with one daughter, Addie, age 36, living in his household. (LE44, OHATB1, OHAT4, 5, 6, 8) Children:

In 1860 Michael was farming in Rome Twp., Athens Co. He filed a petition for divorce 26 may 1874, which was continued many times, and finally granted in Feb 1881. According to the divorce decree, Michael charged Elizabeth with adultery for living with a Mr. Grubb. Michael requested custody of the two minor children, Franklin and Artemus. VA, mother of Mary, was living in the household, along with Anna NORRIS 18, b. VA, possibly a sister of Mary. In 1900, Elinas TABLER, 13, b. Feb 1887, OH, listed as a farm hand is living in the home. Jan 1839, OH, whose name must have been Eliza Zella, or Zella Eliza. In the census records she is Eliza; in most of the birth records, she is Zella, or Ezella, Eliza, or Ezetta. 120.2b6 Rachel TABLER, b. 1846, m. 8 or 10 Mar 1864, Athens Co., OH, John C. LUCAS, b. Jul 1844. Rachel must have died early. In the 1900 census, John C.  is m. to Ary J. _____, b. March 1863. No marriages has been found for a second marriage to date. There were no children listed in the 1870 census for Rachel, and the 1880 census has not been located. (Sep 2005). In 1870 Jessie Goins 10, Mandana Goins 8, and Eliza Beebee 34, all b. OH, are in the household. In the 1900 census for John LUCAS, there is a daughter, Jennie O., age 6m in the household. Ruth is listed as a Native American in the census records. Her parents were natives of CT. In 1880, William Goins, 38, b. OH, a laborer, was living in the home. In 1900 Ruth, Harvey (or Harry), Samuel, and Lucy, are living in the household of James Jenkins and wife, Maggie.
