The house is on the National Register, Tuscarora District of Berkeley Co. On 18 Dec 1794 Wendel and James Miller appraised the estate of Hugh Miller (possible this was Wendel Sr.). In 1860 Sarah SEIBERT 30 (may be a daughter), Catherine BUTLER 26 (probably another daughter), and Michael Seibert BUTLER 6, were in the home. In 1860 and 1870, Catherine was living with her mother in Hedgesville, Berkeley Co., with her son Michael. Catherine, a widow, was living with her son Michael from 1880 through 1920. HENSHAW b. 10 May 1854, nr. Bunker Hill, Berkeley Co., d. 12 Dec 1938, age 84y 7m 2d, Berkeley Co., d/o Levi Jr. and Sarah Ann 'Annie' (SNODGRASS) HENSHAW. In 1880 through 1920, Michael was a physician living in Hedgesville, Berkeley Co, with his mother in the home all of those years. He began the study of medicine with Dr. George Hamil in Martinsburg, and later Dr. Johnson, Hedgesville, and graduated from the University of Medicine in 1874. He began his practice at Bunker Hill, then moved to Hedgeville. In 1900 Charles, his wife and child, a niece and nephew (names appear to be Alma and Robert GRIMES?), and Ada Bennett, a servant are in the household. In 1910, daughter Catherine KOPPISCH and her daughter Catherine, and Charles C. BUTLER 10, and James A. BUTLER 8, grandsons were in the home. In 1920 the grandsons, and Vallie V. HENSHAW, Lillie's sister, were in the home. Michael was a member of the Eastern Panhandle Medical Society and the American Medical Associaton. Virginia was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, Kydd-Douglas Chapter. She worked for 30 years in state and federal government jobs, and serving as clerk of the registrar to the Washington Co., Election Board for 15 years. She taught school in Berkeley Co. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, survived by several nieces and nephews. (MDNP1-26 Mar 1979, US1)
