48.1 Sarah Elizabeth MYERS, b. 9 Feb 1809, Berkeley Co., WV, d. 24 Aug 1874, Berkeley Co., d/o Henry and Catherine (SEIBERT) MYERS (48/49), m. 24 Nov 1831, John G. COUCHMAN, b. c1804, VA. The suretor for the marriage was Henry MYERS, the minister Jacob Metout. "John G. COUCHMAN lived in the Flagg's Crossing on the north side of the road near where the Tuscarora Creek flows into the Opequon north of Vanmeter Ford Bridge. Daughter Emily, died unmarried,  left her share in the home place to sister Sarah Ellen SHOAFSTALL, who was to pay $100 to sister Fannie M. SMALL, and $100 to sister-in-law, Lucy COUCHMAN". In 1860 and 1870, John was farming in Berkeley Co. In 1860, George E. Herring, age 9, was in the household, and in 1870, William Herring age 18, and Abram Vorhees, both laborers were in the household.(WVBE1, 4, WVBE11-13)
