He moved from Franklin Co., PA, to Berkeley Co., VA in 1812, purchased land on the Opequon Creek nr. Greensburg from James Foreman. The LEMASTER House was is a stone house built c1812. The house, now in ruin, was built by John LEMASTER. A picture of the house appears in the architectural history of Berkeley Co.They are buried in MYERS Cemetery, Berkeley Co. His will was filled both in Berkeley Co., VA, and Franklin Co., PA. In his will, he released his slaves, Andrew and Kesia, and gave them a house in Morgan Co., He named his wife, Nancy, sons William and John, daughters Elizabeth Ann, Margaret, and Eliza, an equal share to any unborn children, his brothers George, Philip, and Daniel; brother George to be the executor of the will. Edmund Randall, William Morrison, and John Cross were witnesses. In 1850, Ann LAYMASTER and son James, a miller, are residing with son-in-law, John R. CROOK, in Berkeley Co., VA. He spend 2 years at Baldwin University. He was engaged in farming and stock raising. He fought in the Civil War in Co., B, 49th Regiment, Ohio Vol. Infantry, and was discharged in 1863. After the war, he continued to farm, specializing in stock raising. In 1880 and 1900 they were living in Sycamore Twp. The census and his bio differ in the names of the children.
