306 Abraham HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 18 Jan 1686, Rockland Manor, New Castle, DE, s/o Thomas and Margaret (CALVERT) HOLLINGSWORTH (612/613), d. Oct 1748, Frederick Co., VA, m. 13 Mar 1710, (307) Ann ROBINSON, d/o George (or James) and Catherine ROBINSON (614/615), d. c1749. Abraham HOLLINGSWORTH moved from DE to Cecil Co., MD in 1710. In 1733, he bought from Alexander Ross, under the patent from the Governor of VA, 582 acres of land near Winchester, Frederick Co., VA, and in 1733, he moved with his family and some relatives to this grant. He fixed his home, Abraham's Delight, at a point S.W. of the present town of Winchester, VA, on the branch of Abraham's Creek (named for him), which heads the Town Spring and Shawnee Spring, and there erected a flour mill, one of the first in the county. He and his family were Friends, and attended meetings at East Nottingham, PA, at least 150 miles from Winchester. (FH8, US18, VAFR10 1p203, 273, VAFRB2) Children:

306.1 George HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 7 Apr 1812, Cecil Co., MD, m. 19 Deb 1734, Hannah MCCOY (MCKAY?), d/o Robert MCCOY, by whom he had five children; he married second, Jane ELWELL, by home he had six children. He moved to Frederick Co., VA with his father. In 1762, he sold all of his property in VA, when he and his family, except for Robert, moved to SC. His first wife wife, Hannah MCCOY, was from the parish of Augusta, Frederick Co, VA (FH8, US18). Children:

306.4 Isaac HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 22 Feb 1722, d. 10 Sep 1759, Fairfax, VA, m. 1748, Rachel PARKINS, b. 3 May 1724, d/o Isaac PARKINS, d. 10 Sep 1805, Fairfax, VA.  On 13 Nov 1751, ten acres of land was transferred from George Ross to Isaac HOLLINGSWORTH for the build of a meeting house, later known as Hopewell Meeting, which was erected in 1759. Isaac HOLLINGSWORTH became a minister when he was 21 years old, and lived near Hopewell Monthly Meeting, VA, until 1857, when he moved to Fairfax, VA. (FH8, US18, VALOB2) Children:

306.4c Lydia HOLLINGSWORTH b. 27 Oct 1752, m. 9 Apr 1772, John HOUGH, s/o Richard and Margery (CLOWS) HOUGH. They were both living in Loudoun Co., VA, at the time of their marriage. In the 1810 census they had 1 male 0-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 16-25, 1 male 45 and up, 3 females 0-10, 2 females 10-15, 2 females 10-15, 1 female 16-25, a female 26-44. In 1820 here was 1 male 10-16, 2 males 16-18, 4 males 16-26, one male 45 and up, 1 female 0-10, 1 female 10-16, 1 female 16-18, 1 female 45 and p, and 7 slaves. Samuel appears in the 1825 tax list in Tyler Co.. In 1850 he was farming in Tyler Co. In 1860 and 1870 he is a physician, living in Ripley, Tyler Co. In 1880 Martha is living with daughter Amanda and her husband Christian SYPOLT. In 1870 there was a 2nd. John in the household, who may have been a grandchild. Hattie T. Moore from Portland, ME. He m. 3rd. c1896 Mary Brown, nee Dailey. This Mary may have been m. to a Smidt. In 1900 there is a Mary Smidt b. Feb 1882, GER, listed as a step-daugher. Summers attended WVU, returned to Preston Co., to own and operated the country store, a family owned business since 1845. He was a member of Union District Board of Education and the Knights of Pythias. His wife attended WVU, taught school several yeas, active in 4H, and a member of Aurora Methodist Church. Summers graduated from Shepherdstown College, Sheperdstown, Jefferson Co., WV, in 1941, and had a masters degree from WVU. He was a teacher and principal in Preston Co., schools, and was a director of Federal programs . Mary was also a teacher in Preston Co., Both were active in community activities in Kinwood (more information at source WVPRB# p282). They are buried in Maplewood Cem., Preston Co. In 1900 he was a student living in the hom of Leonidas Geek in Morgantown, Monongehela Co., Wv, He was elected WV House of Delegates  from Preston Co., serving 2 terms from 1906 to 1910. In 1910 he was fooming with James Brady in Kingwood, Preston Co., WV. In 1912 he was elected to the state Senate from the 14th. District. He was a Mason, a Member o f Knights of Pythias, Elks, Modern Woodmen, and Phi Kappa Sigma. He was dirctor of the Bank of Kingwood and People's National Bank in Rowlesburg, Preston Co. In the household was Ira Hardesty 22, b. WV, a hired hand. Alvin may have been married before Margaret. In the 1910 census he is listed as being m. 20 years, to Margaret, but 3 of the children are older than 20. There is also a 9 year gap between the the older and younger children.
