Peter HARTSOCK settled in what is now Bridgewater Twp., Somerset Co., NJ, near the junction of the north and south branch of the Raritan River. They were members of the First Reformed Church in Raritan, NJ. They moved to Frederick Co., MD, where Peter rented one hundred acres of land from Lord Baltimore on 29 Sep 1759, and were still living there in 1783. The land was part of the Monocacy Manor. Peter, at the time of his death, left a widow and 9 children. They had a total of eleven children, seven of whom were baptized in the First Reformed Church in Raritan. (FH2) Children:

132.2 Nicholas HARTSOCK, b. 1735, baptized 20 Apr 1735, First Reformed Church,  Raritan, NJ, d. 4 Apr 1821, m. Catherine Elizabeth ____?, d. 27 Sep 1788. He served in the Colonial Wars of 1740 and 1767, and the Revolutionary War, for which he received five pounds ten shillings. In the Colonial Wars he was in Capt. John Middough's Company Frederick Co., MD. (MDFRB12 p380, MDFR1, MDFRB3, FH2) Children:

132.2b John HARTSOCK b. 1760, m. Elizabeth HARDING. On 20 Apr 1791, John witnessed the will of his brother-in-law William BARRICK in Frederick  Co. (FH2, MDB6 v8 p84)

132.2e Angleburt HARTSOCK, m. 1st. Christine _____?; 2nd. Madoline FOX. On 12 Jun 1786, Anglebert was a member of the coroner's jury in the death of Jack, Negro Slave of William Renner, who drowned at Wood's Mill. (VAB6 v3 p84)

132.4 Hans George HARTSOCK, b. 1737/8, baptized 26 Mar 1737/38, Raritan, NJ, d. between 30 Dec 1788 and 18 Apr 1785,  m. 17 Jan 1759, Judita STENTZ, d/o Heinrich STENTZ. In the 1790 census, George was in Frederick Co., MD, with 1 male 45 and up, 2 females 26-44, and 2 slaves. They moved first to Washington Co., MD, then bought a farm in Franklin Co., PA. His widow Judita, m. 2nd. Anthony Snider. In the Colonial Wars he was in Capt. John Middough's Company Frederick Co., MD.(FH2, MDFRB12, p380) Children:

132.6 Catherine HARTSOCK, b. 1743, baptized 18 Aug 1743, First Reformed Church,  Raritan, NJ, m. 22 May 1778 , William BARRICK, d. bef. 1791. John HARTSOCK, William's brother-in-law, witnessed the will of William on 20 Apr 1791. The Barricks had a lease on 125 acres of land in Monocacy Manor. (FH2, MDB6 v8 p84, MDFR1) Children:

132.11 Johnathan HARTSOCK, b. c1753, Somerset Co., NJ, d. 1817, m. Hannah _____?, b. 1755/60. In 1790, they lived in Huntingdon Co., PA. By 1788, they sold their land there, and moved to Centre Co., PA, then migrated to Fairfield Co., OH. (FH2) Children:
