Samuel was a farmer and miller. He owned a mill on Beaver Creek, Washington Co. They were Mennonites. They are buried in Old Funk Cemetery on the William E. FUNK farm. (FH25) Children:

Jacob RICE (who was previously m. to Mary ROWLAND, d. 1880, age 85, and had 12 children. After the death of her husband, she resided with stepson Isaac RICE. She was related to Mrs. Samuel FUNK, Andrew FUNK, Mrs. John W. KAYLOR, Mrs. C. A. WEAGLEY, and Mrs. William E. FUNK, all of Washington Co. An account of her life written in a local Ogle Co., IL newspaper can be seen in the obituary section, USGENWEB, IL, Ogle Co. SR: MDWA2 p1280;
