GENEALOGIES WITH PROBLEMS

There are from time to time genealogy files that do not pan out for various reasons:

The files below fit in one or more of these categories.

SEIBERT, John (196.1)

John SEIBERT was once though to be an ancestor in the SEIBERT genealogy. He was the son of Wendel SEIBERT (196) and Catherine REIS (197). Among his children were two sons, Peter and Michael. Peter SEIBERT was thought to be the father of Eliza SEIBERT (27) who married John CRIDER (26). The circumstantial evidence strongly pointed to this supposition. However, the compiler cannot find any concrete evidence to support the the relationship. The genealogy of John, Michael and Peter seems solid. Only the numbers have changed. John SEIBERT (was 108) is now 196.1; Peter SEIBERT (was 54) is now 196.1c, and Michael SEIBERT was (108.7) is now 196.1g. Should proof be forthcoming in he future, the numbers will revert to the former. (THESE FILES ARE BEING CONVERTED TO THE NEW NUMBERS)

KNODE, d_____ (110)

The KNODE Genealogy depended on the John and Peter SEIBERT information being correct. This file is retained in case the SEIBERT information is proven in the future. See KNODE

FUNK, _______ (218)

The FUNK Genealogy also depended on the John and Peter SEIBERT information being correct. This file is retained in case the SEIBERT information is proven in the future. See FUNK

HOWARD PROJECTION (134)

There are several things wrong with this projection. First: the HARTSOCK Genealogy states that Anna Maria HOWARD m. Henry HARTSOCK of Frederick Co., MD, and the author of the genealogy may have assumed from the fact that Henry HARTSOCK witnesses the will of one William HARTSOCK, that Anna Maria could have been a sister of William, making Henry a brother-in-law. The will of John MOYER/MEYERS of Frederick Co. in 1787 names a daughter Mary HARTSOCK and named Henry HARTSOCK, son-in-law, the administrator of the will. There is also supposed to be a 1766 bible record for Henry HARTSOCK with the birth dates of his children. I have not been able to find this bible, which in 1938 was owned by a couple in Carroll Co., MD. This bible may also have a marriage record which would give us the name of his wife, ending the mystery. Secondly the Howard line is only a projection of what may be correct. The author of Anne Arundel County Gentry, believes that the children of  Thomas were Cornelius, Vachel, and William, and states that more children must exist. Possibly Anna Maria was also part of this family.
